Where does the stereotype come from?

This still ticks me off! If every business on Beale chooses to post, then that is each business owners perogative, but how do you post an entire public street? If that's the case then it should be off limits to minors as well since it's just one big community bar, but that might hurt business so no dice.

Sorry to stray off topic. BTW I am a proud permit carrying liberal. :P

The title of the thread, the last sentence of your post, and your signature together made me LOL.

And my hair isn't spiky, either. :panic:

Dang Daddyo. You wouldn't be stereotyping a little yourself, would ya? I know lefties that like guns, and right wingers that hate them. It's a strong position for some lefty's, but then you have Harry Ried out shooting with the NRA boss at a shooting park that he sponsored.

I'm not nearly as interested in whether or not someone likes guns as I am in whether or not they support the Second Amendment. Ask Harry Reid if he's in favor of open carry. His answer will tell you if he's really a Second Amendment supporter.

If someone says he "supports the Second Amendment, but....." then he doesn't.

They are based on reality. Thats what makes it a stereotype - a "stereotypical redneck" chews tobacco, is a Klan member, has tattoos and drives a pickup truck. A "stereotypical black" loves fried chicken and watermelon, is on food stamps, is a gang member and drives a hooptie.

Lots of truth in both those descriptions above, hence "stereotype".

According to Wikipedia I am wrong -

A stereotype is a commonly held public belief about specific social groups, or types of individuals. The concepts of "stereotype" and "prejudice" are often confused with many other different meanings. Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions of groups, based on some prior assumptions. Generally speaking, these "stereotypes" are not based on objective truth, but rather subjective and often unverifiable content-matter.
