Trip To Gettysburg

Recommended Posts

In a few weeks I will be going to Gettysburg Pennsylvania. I will be leaving Tennessee and traveling thru Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and into Pennsylvania. This will be my first trip to Gettysburg since getting my HCP.

I know that all of these states with the exception of Maryland honor my HCP. Am I correct in the fact that before crossing the Maryland state line I will need to pull over, unload my pistol and store it and the ammo separately? I have a gun vault installed in my car.

Also, what is the current situation as far as handguns in the Gettyburg National Military Park?

Thanks

I just got back two days ago from Gettysburg! I spent time in VA, MD, PA and D.C. My uncle is a Maryland attorney and very well versed on gun law in that state. PM your phone number and I will be glad to call you and give you the rundown. It is a bit complicated but I got the full lowdown from a great source!

Be sure to take plenty of time for the museum and the main street has some really great places to eat.

Used to live in the area and visit Gburg a couple of times a month at least. Should be good to go for carry in PA except in the NPS buildings as I understand the new laws. Maryland? Best take Bronkers advice. It gets hairy. BTW, if you're into prime rib dinners, try the Dobbin House on the main drag in Gburg, or another dining option that's really cool is the Cashtown Inn about 6-7 miles west of Gburg. Both establishments were there during the battle and will give you a dining experience you won't be able to find in Tennessee. God I miss living up there...

Wow!!!

This past Thursday night, I had a prime rib steak in the tavern at the Dobbins House on HWY 30 / Baltimore Ave.!!!!! And this man speaks the truth about the coolness factor of the area.

RDL, I got your PM and will try to call you tomorrow.

You'll appreciate that you can legally carry almost everywhere in Pennsylvania (avoid schools, courthouses, and of course the ever-popular post office). Even in a bar while having a cold one (use your judgment there). I've never seen a "no guns" sign at a restaurant, and I live about 20 miles from Philly. The only place you need to conceal is state parks.
