Science reporting is just horrible. Time travel, and the impossibility thereof, is a consequence of general relativity postulated by Einstein. Quantum mechanics, as formulated by Fermi and Dirac, doesn't have the same problem.

AS to which one represents the reality we experience more accurately, that is a tougher question. We've measured the dilation of time and we've also measured plenty of quantum effects.

When both theories are experimentally valid which one do you go with? A tough question really, a really, really tough question.
