Yet another dumb question.

I have a Bushmaster Carbon15 AR style pistol. I picked up a cheap red-dot sight today. When I went to mount the sight it was 1/8 of an inch to wide at the base to catch the sides of the rail cut into the upper of the pistol.I called up gander mnt and spoke with the dude that sold me the site and he had no clue.

The width of the rail is 5/8 inch. A quick measure of the sight and it looks like the most narrow adjustment is 3/4 a inch.

Is there some gender-bender I need to mount this on my pistol?

thanks in advance

Jason

Is it just a normal picatinny style flattop on your "pistol"? The name of the sight would help greatly.

Its a Barska Illuminated red dot. It fits on the tactical rail on the bottom of my SIG 226. Not sure why you would want to mount a reflex site upside down and backwards on the underside of a pistol, but for sizing it seems to fit.

Its not a standard rail on the top of the AR.

I'll post some pix in a bit with a ruler to show scale.

Thanks for looking, Im starting to doubt my sanity. I drove to Dicks and the old dude at the counter thought I was off my nut. He said he had no clue what kinda rail was on the bushmaster. I think he thought I was :D.

Well, your Sig has a picatinny rail underneat for mounting lights and lasers and such. I don't think your sight would do you much good there either. As far as your rail, it does not appear to be a picatinny type flattop on your gun, so even if the sight were to fit, without the picatinny or weaver grooves, your sight is going to move with recoil anyways, which defeats its purpose. What model is your firearm?

Couldn't get the link to work...search Bushmaster Carbon 15 Type 97 Pistol+picatinny optics mounting base in Google and its the first PDF that comes up...

See page 3, product L. It looks like what you may be looking for, and I didn't have much success in finding anything outside of bushmaster themselves. I'm not sure what the entire top of your gun looks like, but it says that it would screw in...

Thanks man! Looks like I'm on the hook to order from Bushmaster.
