Thought I might as well sign up since I have been lurking here for a while.

97topless Snake on TN speed

screen name = I have a Clark Custom .45 Pinmaster from back in the Old days and it is one of my favorites... not a crary size gun but sure fun to shoot.

I am looking for a place to take the CCW class in a few months.

Before that I'd like to make a couple trips to a range in the area when it warms up. It would help me to pick a gun to use for the class:up:

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Pinmaster!

Welcome to TGO.

If you are looking for a carry permit class, might I suggest HGR Firearms up in Portland/Gallatin area? www.hgrfirearms.com; 615-364-4359. Greg Knox is the owner of HGR and knows his stuff. He teaches all HGR classes that qualify for TN Carry Permit.

We do the NRA Pistol I class, which is basically the TN Carry Permit class plus more. We cover more than is required for the TN permit, and end up doing more shooting and having more fun as a result. Small classes, excellent instruction, some flexibility in class schedules (see the schedule on the website.)

I can also arrange a bit of a discount for a referral through this forum.

If north of Nashville is not convenient to you, I can suggest some other schools in the area, as can many of the folks on the board. There is some great training out there.

My personal opinion is that the TN Carry Permit minimum requirements are not nearly enough to be safe and effective. Even if you dont go to the school I work at, I encourage all my students to get as much training as they can.

Getting down off my soapbox now... :D

Thanks for the welcome yall... I will get some pics and post up a few goodies...

I dont have many of the "newer type" tatical handguns but way back when I picked up a couple of Sigs (226 & 229) and other stuff.

The older "collector/safe queen" type stuff I do have.....I like to think.

Tungstens' talk of him going to a .45 is what got me thinking guns again. I have had other .45's but the two I have left are a 1950's era Colt Lightweight and the .45 Clark Pinmaster (old school comp single gun).

Good article about Mr. Clark http://www.bullseyepistol.com/clark.htm a great "past maker".

I will have to get them out and knock the dust off of'um.

I see a Hi-Power in your sig... My Grandfather gave me his from the 60-70's and I have yet to shoot it. Yeah most of my stuff is older :D)

You plan on getting anything newer, or just sticking with your older stuff?

Trying to Work on Tungsten about his KIMBER :D

I had an older Kimber .45 but it is dads' now.

I do have some newer stuff but I have not bought anything in 10 years or so. Now that the range is open up in Mt. Juliet I need to get off my rear and get back in the 10 ring LOL.

I lost 30% of the vision in my right eye about ten years ago and gave up on shooting but all the Talk from Reef,Tungsten, Hornet Handler, and others on TNspeed struck a never that I thought was gone....

REEF, I am going to help LLyyod put his whipple on tomorrow. He will be the one doing the burnouts:up:
