Lasers in HCP Class

Ooh, that makes a difference. She's been doing fine at 10 yards (30 feet). So this may be a non issue. I heard it was 3 yards, 7 yards, and 50 feet. Seemed to me like quite a jump from 7 yards to just over 16.6 yards. 36' would make it 12 yards and that's much more managable. She shouldn't have a problem then.

I just did mine in December, and the distances were 3, 7, and 15 yards. I've seen posted elsewhere here at TGO that if you score 100% at 3 and 7 yards, you can miss at 15 and still pass the test. If the missus can hit a paper plate at 7 yards, she should be just fine.

That said, I can't think of any other pastime where practicing is just so much fun! There's no reason why she can't be Dirty Harriet with some good range time, focus on good technique, and maybe some further instruction (funds and time permitting, of course).
