I have been practicing drawing and reloading. I believe to speed up my recovery time after a reload I should keep my pistol pointed at the target. When I hit the mag release with my strong hand thumb I tend to turn the pistol a hair , so I been trying to hit the mag release with my support hand thumb . This seems to be working well since my support thumb is right there close to the mag release. I know this might slow my retrieving my loaded mag.

any thoughts on this

I keep the gun high, pulling the gun around with my weak hand to get the mag release to my thumb, pull in half way to the chest, reloading at mid-chest height, weak hand goes for the spare mag, drives it home, hits the slide release and pulls the gun back on target with weak hand while pushing with the strong hand, keep that finger off the trigger until back on target.

My gamer gun has an extended release, thumb will reach it with out twisting it around, however if you have to go for it off a table and push down on the gun, the mag will pop out.

With the XD I easily can hit the mag-release while pulling the gun in towards my chest and reaching for a fresh mag. I wouldn't use my support hand to hit the mag release, because my hand is already reaching for a mag the instant the slide locks, before I drop the empty, sometimes I already have a fresh mag in my hand ready to go in.

i practice reloading before my slide locks back.fire to neutralize the threat then immediate reload.I leave my hg in firing position, week hand grabs spare mag while trigger finger hits mag release.the less movement the quicker.and with my hg already in fireing position theres not much movement required to get sights back on target.
