Thanks to a thread I found on the Smith & Wesson forum (S&W Forum), I've loaded up some Quaker Instant Grits shotshells for my .38 and I'm gonna shoot the destructive little pests!

Knew grits had to be useful for something, cause I sure won't eat them.

You ain't from around here, are ya? Just turn them into grit flavored butter and they slide right down :D

Oh no, I'm from around here, 2 things I do not like Homony and Grits.

But I do like Butter Biscuits.

I'm with you on the hominy. It won't hold enough butter to cover up the taste

best use this accused Yankee ever heard of for grits.

You going to blast them out of the air or wait until they go into their little whole?

May be the best use I've seen for a Judge. I will hold a lot more grits than a .357

I would love to see the look on the neighbors faces when the shooting starts!:D

Be sure you don't get your normal loads mixed up with them!:)

wouldn't just a primer be sufficient?

I shot paintballs out of a SA Army last year that was powered only by the primer.

I can't find the post; are you guys talking about shooting at mice with grits packed 38's? Instant or regular? I reckon some rice loads might work for larger vermin.

Freakin Joe Pesci's face in My Cousin Vinny- when he says "Whats a grit?" still rolls me. Funny funny movie still today.

He's shooting bees. Shooting grits or rice at mice would just attract more mice.

I looked on the S&W forum but couldn't find the thread your talking about. What is the load data?

Posted

I'll be shooting them out of the air - the little buggers buzz me when I'm sitting on my deck.

The only load data I heard was 2 grains of Unique, paper wads over the powder and over the grits/cream of wheat. I'm using 2 grains of Bullseye, but I'm not recommending any load data to anyone.

Carpenter bee control S&W style

I used a 3/8" gasket punch to make wads out of cardstock.

Easy to tell them from the SD rounds - no bullet, just a yellow wad showing in the mouth of the case.

Save yer powder, boys....getcha a 3' long 1"x 4" board, and have at em!

It's way cheaper than shootin' off yer grits and rice at em, AND just think of the cardio workout you'll be getting, doing all that swinging and bopping the Boring Bees into oblivion! :puke::puke:

Oh,BTW, I don't think I'd let the neighbors see you engaged in the above mentioned activity...they just might have you committed to the funny farm!:hat:

I'll post up the $1.02 for you to keep your dignity. You handle the shipping.

If you can't swat em, you shore ain't gonna shoot em!

We have them bad at the cabin and you can spray something toxic in the holes at night when they are bedded down and pretty much wipe em out. Gun Scrubber with the little straw nozzle works especially well.

Take em out with plain old pesticide for termites. Regular bee killer won't touch them, but the termite stuff kills em dead right there.

i use my red rider bb gun. at my garage i can get real close and they just huver. more misses than hits but its fun, till i get tired of cocking the thing,

You will be amazed how many there are. I had them real bad on the porch of a house I was restoring. We'd take a break from work and go swat bees. You could get 20 or so in just 10 or 15 minutes. I kept thinking, that's got to be all of them. Come back a few hours later and get another 20. Repeat every day. We must have killed hundreds of them.

I was doing this just last night. Never did hit one.

I give them a small squirt of Carb/brake cleaner. Seems pretty effective!

FYI - let them crawl up into their little hole and squirt some WD40 into it, kills them instantly......

When I was a kid we would put a smoke bomb in one end of the hole and wait for them at the exit hole with the Crosman 760 Pumpmaster
