Southern Strategy

Look, the concept of small government, and leaving most decisions to the states, set sail when Lincoln was in office... the change over started then.

Wiki is weaky.

Though it is interesting, not verified. But, I have always thought a lot of the heated rhetoric coming from both sides, and now a 3rd side, is by plan... The issue here is not conservative vs liberal vs moderate. It is not Republican vs Democrat. It is not the Tea Party. The issue here is the want to stay in power by those who have it. Manipulate the masses, so they are in the dark. Use stereotyping, race card, and money to keep those who could align to threaten your power disorganized and at each other. Not a big surprise, happens in most every government.

Remember, the two party system we have are wings of the same vulture. Otherwise they would never had worked together to prevent any other political party from gaining ground. Question this? Look at the agreements on how Congressional Committees share power and are designated...

Those in power want to keep it, and will stop at practically nothing to keep it. Stopping the threat before it can start is the norm...

This political theory is another tool? Possibly. But definitely not the end all tool expressed, nor is it the only thoughts in use...

99% agree.

There's no such thing as a "second stimulus" or "Obamacare", there are however political agendas that are using those terms with the motive to create buzz and anger on which to capitalize on in the form of getting folks behind there own self-serving agendas (which is exactly why I kind of started this thread, so thanks).

1st stimulus: Economic Stimulus Act of 2008

2nd stimulus: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

Obamacare: Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act & Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010

I like the Education Reconciliation Act part. "Race to the top" is a federal bribe to the states so that they will make changes to the laws. The changes begin the process to "standardize" education throughout the US. Sounds like a good idea, standardized education.

Problem is it removes the ability of state and local entities to have a say in the edcation of children and gives it to the feds. We all know how efficient the federal government is at managing programs funded by the money they take away from us.

the political climate these days is getting to be more about picking a side rather than really working towards solutions that are good for everybody... there are old tricks at work that haven't been dusted off and are being put back in action, that's all.

I agree completely. Nobody votes the issues anymore...just sides. That is so stupid and the politicians on both sides love us for it.

That's because the left have pushed their tent into socialist ideology. Meaning that every "issue" is predicated on pushing an ideology not an idea. If people can't see the divide growing and realize the middle is disappearing from beneath their feet then they are either an idiot or intentionally blind. When Dems and Repubs were degrees of separation the issues were important. It is no longer a degree of separation. The middle is now called extreme right wing. This is not a new happening it is the normal evolution of countries/states who get lazy and allow the radical minority to dictate the nonsensical ideology that makes them the minority.

+1

JFK would look like a complete right winger when compared to today's dems.

Not trying to cause an argument, just putting this out there as I have noticed that the political climate these days is getting to be more about picking a side rather than really working towards solutions that are good for everybody...

Can't make "everybody" happy. The sides are polarizing because one side sees a bottomless treasure chest that they can reach in and make "everybody" happy with while the other sees the two empty chests (taxes and Social Security Trust Fund) and knows that there is nothing left. It's almost down to cutting time. When do we tell the masses that have their hands out that there is no more and they are now on their own. How long can those of us still working and trying keep up with the burden of so many whose only contribution in some cases was the flip the button on a voting machine to finance their existence?

I wish I could counter with the old saying that the churches would help take up the slack but we are way past that being a viable option. It's going to come down to a term you can't imagine in terms of humanity but if you squint you can see it on the horizon, a "correction in the human market" is coming. Going to be ugly but even the enlightened one can't get blood from a turnip.

It was originally Federalist vs anti Federalist, which is what it should be now. Jefferson was an anti Federalist against a large central government.

That is the type of people we should be voting for now, what ever party they come from. Clip the vulture's wings if you have to, but saying they are the same doesn't cut it. If you have two of the same in both parties, you have one party playing. The republicans are the closest thing to be able to 'fix', unless you want to try to tackle everyone who allowed our

new health care bill to pass: democrats. Threaten them with their life before you vote, but fix something that's closer to fixable before you throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Who is this 3rd party?

Hopefully you are voting idealogy, also, instead of issues. If you are vou are voting on issues, either side can win depending on the idealogy and snake oil

used.

Dear CK1,

I, personally, am not surprised that you've shown remorse in beginning this thread. If I were you, I would too. You probably envisioned some grand political discourse on how southern men are being strategically manipulated by the “Southern Strategy.†Didn't go that way did it? There is a good reason why not.

Please allow me to enlighten you since you readily admit you are not native to our southern homeland, and therefore not accustom to our ways, nor one of us.

The Southern Strategy is very real, alive and healthy. However, it is known among us as Southern Solidarity. We love God. We love our families. We love our people. We own guns. We hunt. We work. We play. We pray. We love, and we hate. We are not men that need some political stratagem to be racist. We have our own history and our experience to do that for us.

I live in Memphis. I moved here from Nashville to go to college and went to a black school. During my attendance at this multicultural institution, the upbringing I received was all but permanently erased. The “white guilt†phenomenon was very prevalent in my life. I convinced myself that racism was wrong. Then some thing happened, I graduated. Yep, I had to get a job, which meant no more constant programming. And I was forced to deal with the black culture head on.

You have probably never been to Memphis. It's a lot like Small St. up there in Gallatin, except multiplied by about 600,000.

It wasn't long and I was married with kids. My viewpoint of the world began to change. All of the sudden I was responsible for others and had to always consider life accordingly. So as I look at the world around me and see murder, rape, drug use, corruption at all levels of government and law enforcement, fraud, and list goes on and on and on, I am disgusted. And contrary to political correctness, I have no problem whatsoever saying these problems are the result of the black culture in this city. Just like it is in Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago, Birmingham, Jackson, and all the other major cities at the top of the most crimes lists. As well as in most of the predominantly black towns and neighborhoods across our nation.

Personally, I am sick and tired of the race card being played against whites. Tell me, how many black congressmen voted for the Civil Rights Act? The fact is that the “equality†that blacks receive today was brought into place and enforced by white people. The lifestyle blacks have in their communities today, which is more comfortable than you'd think, can be directly attributed to the white taxpayer. We're tired of being called racist after we have played the game for 40 years now and simply don't appreciate where it has gotten us.

Politically we consider the cultural marxism that has been inflicted upon us to be responsible for poisoning the minds of our sons and the purity of our daughters. Our cities and neighborhoods are no longer places we want to call home. Our livelihood has been stolen from our people for too long. We will vote Republican in November, but not because we are Republicans. And not because we just don't like the “black†president that is a mulatto. We simply want to try and deride this machine before we have to resort to the other option. Why? Because we are historically compassionate, peaceful, tolerant, understanding and merciful. Until we have had it! Then history tells a different story.

Maybe it's different up North, or on the West Coast, and there are successful, productive, affluent cities that are populated and governed primarily by black people. I don't know. But what I do know is that here in the south we sense a “storm a cumin'â€and have implemented the long practiced Southern Strategy of Storin' Bibles, Bullets, and Beans.

Call us racist and try to make us feel guilty. The only thing we are feeling guilty about is that we let it get this far.

VERY well said! I spent 20 years in the USAF and they for sure erased any vestiges of racism in me. The black people I served with had similar values as me, similar goals and similar standards of right, wrong, and decency. Here in the "real world", things are much different. I see racism daily in the news and locally. Civil rights may have been a great issue and way over due...but that donesnt mean we should have gone PAST equality like we have, to the point that color entitles you to a "pass" simply because you are black. I read a book once by a black radio talk show host named Ken Hamblen. One passage he wrote said that, and I paraphrase, "The American Dream is like a big footrace, where the officials lined up the blacks and whites, firted the gun and said whites go now...then later on said now blacks go! of course the blacks will never catch up, so the officials then give blacks bicycles, so they then catch up...but after a point, fairness dictates that the time must come when either they all get bicycles or else take them all away. The time for special help or even copnsideration based on race is long past."

Lyndon Johnson's Great Society concept just hasn't worked. America's welfare entitlement society has helped a large segment of our society to learn that they don't have to work or be responsible for themselves and their families. The government, or the "wealthy" will take care of them. Perhaps THIS is the true racism in America today. Perhaps THIS is what emasculates the black males to the point that fatherless black homes are the norm. The entitlement society is killing our country. The bottomless pit of our money is nearing the bottom,, and more and more people are becoming increasingly unhappy with this, as well as being labeled racist if they disagree with a black person.

I don't think its a racial thing at all, I would classify it as a class and education issue. I have served in the army with all manner of people, and work with them all now too. I can say that dumb is dumb know matter what the color.

I hate that we have created a Marxist state and the black community has suffered tremendously for it. Their "saviors/leaders" have basically sold most poor black uneducated people back into their bondage for the small price of power in the community. When was the last time you heard Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton speak out about education, or picking yourself up and making the most out of your life. You will never hear it because they and the Democratic Party have way too much invested in keeping people stupid and poor.

Now the republicans are cool with it because they want the cheap labor.

For the truth of it all. We are all responsible for our own success and failures in life. We must all bear personal responsibility for our actions and our stations. When everyone realizes this, maybe just maybe we can have something like equality among all people.

I think this saying sums it up best. "We are all born equal, some will have better results".
