Quick Dillon older die question? ASAP!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, Happy Easter!!! So I'm in the garage setting up my Dillon 550 to load .45 ACP for the first time and I just noticed my seating die doesn't have the normal insert inside it like my newer 9mm dies, I bought these used from a older gent on GOC, I did try to crimp and it seems OK? But since I'm new to reloading I just wanted to ask the experts, did the older dies NOT have in removable insert for cleaning? Thanks for the help!!! COOP

My older Dillon dies do not have an insert. It was left open for Dillons round counter that they use to supply with the quick change kits.

My older Dillion Seating Die does have a removable, reversible insert, Yiou can remove it to clean, but one way is for SWC profile and the other is for RN. The taper crimp die is hollow, but there is a key pin you can pull and the crimp insert drops out for cleaning.

It is the CRIPM die I was talking about. I hope like heck that was what you were also talking about. The seat die does have the insert.
