Fishing

I'm looking for a place to take my 5 year old fishing. Some of the places I prefer to go are a little much for a young one to hike, or I don't feel safe taking her there.

I'd be happy to do catch and release if anyone has a stock tank or small pond, though if you don't mind us keeping some for the table, that'd be cool, too and I'd love to catch a few for you, too if you like to eat them. She went once last summer and had a blast, but Percy Priest isn't high enough yet for some of the bank fishing areas.

Looking in Nashville, Franklin, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, etc.

Thanks for any tips.

Long Hunter State park, there is a great place for kids to fish for bluegills. You can catch dozens, mostly small ones, but fun for kids. Bring crickets.

Enter the park, and it is the 2nd right hand turn I believe. from where you park, it is roughly 50 to 75 yards to the rocks you can sit on, water is 2 or 3 feet below you. I used to take the nephews there all the time.

Have you thought of Shelby park lake? It's over in East Nashville along the Cumberland river.

I believe you can access it on Eastland ave. off Gallatin rd.

They stock it with trout, and it's loaded with other species of fish too.
