Hi,

I am considering the purchase of an IAC (Norinco) lever action shotgun in 12ga. I understand these are popular in CAS. Frankly, I think it is an awesome looking piece. I have wanted one ever since watching Terminator 2. Does anyone own one of these? If so, are you happy with it? What are the pros and cons? Thanks in advance for your time.

I don't have one, but my dad does. He even had a wood pistol grip custom made. to make it just like the one in terminator. Its pretty cool, shoots good, and its a blast to play with. He's really happy with it. As for pros and cons, pros would be its a blast to play with, cons....I dunno, kinda weird to load? All in all, he hasn't any mechanical issues out of it, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

Its just somewhat strange. Not hard, slightly more awkward than say...a pump maybe, but not really hard. You have to lever it open, then load the magazine from the top, past the barrel. Check out the link, its not the norinco, but its what the norinco is a copy of. About a 1:10 he loads it.

OK..I see what you mean. It's almost unbelievable how fast he cycles out those three snap caps. I agree, it is a little odd, but that wouldn't keep my from buying one. Thanks for posting the link.

What are you looking to do with the gun? You see them every so often in CAS but they are not real fast compaired to the doubles and pump actions. It's more of a cool gun than a fast shotgun. The few examples I have shot have been pretty good fit and finish wise. The action seems a little rough from the factory but it can be smoothed out pretty well with a basic tune up. If it's just going to be a shotgun you want to own they are nice enough if your looking to shoot in CAS you may be better served with another type.

All I know is, the respect the IAC/Norinco Hawk 982's get in tactical shotgun circles WAY outweighs their $200 price tags, many think they're every bit as good as the top-of-line 590's, 870's and Benelli's...

If the lever-action is even near as good, I bet you'll be pretty happy with it.

I simply want one because I think it is cool, and I don't want to pay the money for an original. I don't plan on shooting CAS. I already have a Mossberg that is tricked out with a surefire fore end and a side shot shell holder, just in case the Taliban come to assault my residence. :tinfoil:

If your just looking for a fun shooter then it would be a good one.
