what they need to be doing is writing truth. But history is so skewed who actually knows what truth is anymore.

A little balance is a good thing...how about the TRUTH though

When it comes to the differences between fact and fiction the right-wing is pretty facinating... I didn't know "balance" meant "make up s**t"...

Good bad or indifferent I like the truth, but the truth is hard to come by without embellishment.

Unsure about Jamestown. Certainly the company that sponsored the expedition was capitalistic, the article certainly brought that point out - but how did the colony function. It is fact that the Plymouth colony was socialist-communist through the first year. Losses were high, possibly because many counted on their more energetic brethren to feed and clothe them. The rules were changed abruptly, so that each family owned the fruits of their labor. Losses the following year were.much lower.

Seperation of church and state has come to mean that the government cannot even acknowledge the existence of a higher Power. To claim this was the intent of the founders is hogwash, easily disproved by their writings. They simply provided that the government may not establish a state religion - easily understandable to anyone cognizant of what was, to them, recent history.

FDR was undeniably socialist, many economists believe his policies did, in fact, turn a recession into a depression. The depression was masked by the world war, but it took FDRs death and the reversal of his price-fixing, wage-fixing, pro-union, anti-free market policies for the economy to recover.

Joe McCarthy was right. KGB files proved it. He fought the good fight, and was dragged down by closet Communists.

I could go on, suffice to say this is a smear by/on behalf of the ultra leftists who lost control of how Texas school books would be written. Due to the size of the state, this will heavily influence textbooks in other states.

What you are seeing here is a counterattack in a battle for the minds of children - a battle socialists had won, they thought (unfortunately true in colleges and universities).

Any who don't believe socialism is evil either don't know its true history,or are evil themselves ultimately willing to murder millions in pursuit of their goals.

So, what part of history did the right re-write? I think they got it right. I didn't know about Jamestown, but everything else Mark@Sea said is the way I understood those

tidbits in history. Joe McCarthy was on to the communists and we would be a lot better off if he could have continued. Look what we have now.

As a History major I can attest that History (incorrectly so) is more often than not seen and taught through the perspective of the one telling/teaching it. There are some who try to look at it purely in it's context, but it is so easily to put it in the wrong context and so change the conclusions one draws from the facts. What they are doing in Texas is adding back time honored facts and contexts to what liberals had been stripping away for so long.

The very basis of conservatism is that we honor historical contexts that have held true throughout different historical time periods. Thus validating principles and facts as opposed to "new" theories. We aren't opposed to new theories, but we are are slow and skeptical to change until there is proof of the need to do so. Liberals want to rewrite history to validate unproven theories, because that is the only way they can continue an illogical idea.

So why would liberals do that? Human nature. The idea that we are gods and we can create, destroy, or manipulate what we haven't created in order to demonstrate our superiority. That we can change the very laws of nature and humanity because we are smarter than all who have come before us. Ironically every time they do this they prove themselves wrong.

There's my late night historical, theological, and philosophical rant for the night.

Along with millions of russians, socialism murdered truth. Photos were altered, books were recalled and destroyed, new 'corrected' editions were issued. Those who resisted the changes were sentenced to 're-education' (it's where the term came from): which was, in truth, nothing more than a death sentence in a work camp.

Editing facts, absolute intolerance of dissent, total control of media and communication; these have always been their strongest tools. An internet connection? Hell, a mimeograph meant a death sentence.

There's some history for you.

I collect old and antique textbooks. Many of them are history. My ex and I were involved in reviewing textbooks for the State of TN for many years. The differences in the WAY historical occurrences are presented has changed radically from the late 1800's to today- the changes were subtle in the 20's to about 1950 or so. Since then, the changes became very obviously (in some) slanted left, and modern history books I have seen were positively dripping with progressive/liberal/ treehugger environmentalist sentiment.

A return to non-judgemental presentation of FACTS would be a refreshing thing to see. Indoctrination to ideology through the public education system sickens me.

That's why all my kids were homeschooled.

And my 16 year old started Engineering school at UTM last fall.

He does calculus with his head and a pencil.

To all students of history (...fantasy and fact...). Long ago (... in ancient times, I believe...), some great scholar said: "...History is written by the victors. ..."

Looks like the "victors" finally wrested control of the Texas schoolbooks from the socialist flotsam and jetsam that have controlled it for a long time. I say it's a good thing.

By the way, FDR was a socialist and TR is one of my heroes, no matter what they say about him (... you know, he was the first conservationist (... not a hippy earth worshiper--HEHEHE...)). By the way, while I’m on the subject, Joe McCarthy wasn’t all wrong. There were, and still are plenty of commies in government.

Our buddy, Mark@Sea, hit the nail on the head here:

I say to all, keep up the good work. Follow the example in Texas and throw this Bolshevik Trash out of academia and the rest of government.

Real people of Texas, we applaud your actions!!!

Kind regards,

Leroy
