Hi my name is Jason, and I am a "Gun Nut" :)

I am 27 years old and I have been shooting since I can remember anything. My Dad and Grandfather took me hunting when I was very young, so I have always had guns. Weird thing is I still have ever gun I have ever owned, up until now.

Last year I gave my little brother my Stevens .22 rifle when I bought my Ruger 10/22. That didn’t bother me too bad cause I was “passing on†the gun tradition to a younger generation. However the past two days I have sold my S&W 19-5 .357mag revolver and my Mossberg 500 mariner 12 gauge.

I am at the stage where I have all the guns that I “need†for the moment. Saying that means all my firearms serve a specific purpose or hold a sentimental value to me. Anything I acquire now is a “want†unless I decide to do something that requires a certain type of firearm or where a certain type is better used for that purpose. And that was what my .357 and Mariner where, “Want Gunsâ€.

Well we have had bad luck where the wife’s car as of late and we wound up buying a new one last night, and I sold these two firearms to fund the down payment. Luckily I have the mindset that if I buy a “Want†gun, I have to get a GREAT deal on it or I won’t buy it, because the way I figure is that gun becomes an investment and I like to make money instead of breaking even or losing money.

Having said all that bring me to my problem. I am having a hard time letting go of these two guns. There are both gone and the money is spent, but I am in a funk. Remember I have never sold a gun in my 16 years of owning guns. It feels weird.

I guess I need to go to the range and shoot a couple of my firearms to take my mind off of things. Thanks guys for giving me a shoulder to cry on.

Understand, Jason. But as we grow older (and I'm double your age), we learn that we must do what we must do as good men and providers. I gave up a couple of old Colts a year or so back when the need for cash exceeded the "want." So I do understand.

Just remember that the sun still rises in the East, and Brothers are still faithful friends. God first, family next. Keep that in mind, and things take on a better perspective.

Got two shoulders if you need another.

I have regretted in one form or another every gun I have ever sold. At some point I say to myself, " why did I do that".

My younger brother always preaches to never ever sell your toys, find another way to make things happen.

All that being said I am going to take a rifle to the next gun show and try to sell it, LOL. I don't listen and I often fail to learn from my own experiences.
