The U.S Army adpoted the M1911 .45 into service 99 years ago today. Just thought you 1911 guys might like to know. :) Sorry bout the wrong pic, I was in a hurry when I posted it. It is now fixed.

It ought to be a national holiday.

(( of course the gun is sitting on ripstop, did they have that back then? :)))

I would like to see the scallop at the front of the slide shortened and tighter as the originals were. The longer slope is fine, but I like this better.

Here is one from early 1913 delivery (they didn't start shipping until april 1912). This gun was purchased by me in 1999 for $1,600. I sold it in 2007 for $2,800. I have heard, but have not been able to confirm it sold last fall through an on-line auction house for $3,900...
