Expensive scope rings?

Ok, I'm no sharpshooter, so I'll submit this question to the minds of TGO. I know why some of the quick release rings might be expensive, but why are some "basic" (fixed) type scope rings so expensive. What makes the $150+ scope rings any better than the $10 ones?

Kinda what I figured. You're talking about two chunks of metal and some screws. Just add loctite and as long as it all goes together, what could possibly matter??

Looks. I've found nothing stronger than the elcheapo Weaver style rings. Others are much more attractive, but no more functional.

This post contains a great truth. It has been exactly my experience as well. In the old days before that tactical revolution it was well known that the best mounts for the hard kickers were weavers. They invented the cross bar type mount that the tacticool guys now call a Picatinny rail .

Hope this helps,

Kind regards,

Leroy

Last few sets i bought were Millett adjustable windage type for Weaver rails. You do gain a little something with them, because you can set coarse windage with the rings.

Telling that to a fine rifle conisseur is kinda like telling my wife that diamond ring she's wearing is no different than a piece of pot metal with a chunk of creek gravel glued to it.
