Question on Red Dot Sight Mounting

Recommended Posts

I am putting a red dot sight on my Browning Buck Mark 22. Any thoughts on how to keep the scope from scratching the rail? I would like to be able to remove it at some time and not have an ugly rail on this beautiful gun. The rail goes the entire lenfth of the gun so it is an integral part.

I am no expert but I would think you could put something like a piece of paper or some type of tape on the base of the rail before mounting it to the gun. If you used something like masking tape and you tape it to the bottom of the rail then when you remove the rail later the tape should still be adhered to the rail and not the gun......

Do you have a mount or are you looking for a mount ?

de sticky a bit of electrical tape and cut to fit,or stick it to the mount and trim excess..

if the rail is anything like a Browning Medalist, they make an excellent clamp on mount for it, I had a 'smith make one for my Browning then someone came out with one a year later... http://www.bme-mounts.com/images/BRM.jpg

The rail is part of the gun, It is the Buck Mark Field 5.5. I need something between the sight and the rail. I like the idea of some sort of tape. I don't want to mark up the rail.

Thanks for your suggestions.
