What is your favorite outdoors place in Tennessee?

I really like the Coosa WMA and Frozenhead State Park. Daddys Creek Canyon and the Obed River are spectacular. Smoky Mountain National Park is also a very cool place so is Reelfoot Lake and the land between the lakes.

Reelfoot Lake is my favorite, my mom has lived on the "wash out" part of the lake for 15 years. Lots of boating, skiing, tubing, fishing, swimming, jet skiing, up there the last 5 years of my dads life and since then being able to take my kids up there and share those experiences, are priceless.

I do want to get back to LBL, haven't been since a kid, with my kids and go camping and go through the off-road park.

Reelfoot Lake in the west (grew up five minutes from the lake and my family is still there). LBL and Fall Creek Falls in the middle and what part of East TN isn't amazing?

Savage Gulf and Burgess Falls. If you've never seen Burgess Falls, you owe it to yourself. Much more spectacular than Fall Creek Falls.

Fall Creek Falls

My roommate at MTSU '93 told me about it. He said it wasn't far, so we casually got down there. Pulled up at near sundown. Had to run down the path to get to stand in the water fall. Sprained my ankle in the run and had to hobble up the steps to the car. I'll take my wife some day. I'll take her early. I think the monument said it was the highest falls East of the Mississippi. Been to Niagara, but this was more fun.

A few of my favorites are Cordell Hull Lake, Dale Hollow Lake, the Obey river, a deer stand in Robertson County, and Cades Cove on a mid Fall morning.

One of my favorite memories is camping at Cades Cove campground. Got up early one morning and it was still a little foggy. I got out my banjo and was picking a little when about 10 deer came wandering through about 30 foot from me and stopped for about 10 minutes liked they were listening to me.

Dang, I wish I had a picture of that.

It's really hard to narrow it down to one place. Big South Fork and Savage Gulf are two of my favorites. The Smokies are nice once you get more than a couple of miles into the backcountry and lose 90% of the crowds. I hear Virgin Falls Pocket wilderness is very scenic. That area, including Bridgestone Firestone Centennial Wilderness, is next on my list.
