New (to me) Mossberg - ready for the toms

A good friend was selling his Mossberg 835 so he could get a new shotgun. I am on my way to give it a couple of test shots this evening just to know how it shoots before next weekend. My first 12ga pump, I am excited! wooohooo!

Just got back from running a couple of shells through it to see how it patterns. 8" spread at 25yrds using 3" Winchester Supreme #5 turkey loads. Hopefully about a week from now I will have a picture of a big fat turkey to post here as well.

You will be happy with it. If I was you I would shoot different size loads as well as different size shells to see what patterns the best.

Most 835 guns shoot good. Especially when you find the right shells and choke. I've got a 500 that I've had for a while and its a good'un. The 3 1/2 ussally shoots a little farther.

Don't be afraid of the 3.5" mag shells either when the adrenaline is pumpin you'd think it kicks like a .410 I use federal mag -shok with flite control 3.5" mag shells in #5 shot with xx-full choke good pattern at 30-35 yds great at 25 yds.

Unfortunately, opening weekend was horrible so all I got to do was see how comfortable it was carrying around in the rain. Maybe I will have a chance to try again this coming weekend.
