XDm 3.8

I just picked up an XDm 3.8 yesterday. Awesome balance and super clean finish. 19+1 is really what tipped the scales for me. At one point I had both the XDm and an HK P2000 in .40 in my hands. I've always wanted to own an HK, but close up, I thought that the finish actually looked a bit sloppy in comparison to the XDm. Pics are forthcoming, but I don't have a camera at this point.

I wasn't too excited. Huge fan of the XD (have two), but it seems if they were going to create some new option, they would have shortened the grip instead of the barrel. But they didn't ask me!?!;)

Either way, you have a NEW GUN and no matter what, that WREAKS of COOLNESS!!!!

I drove all the way to Frontier Firearms today because they had one. I really really really like it. They are just a lot of money, I'm debating waiting for the 3.8 .40 or just getting the service model .40.

Does anyone think the XDm is worth the extra money, or better yet, will I be just as happy with the XD service model?

You will be just as happy with service model.Easier to conceal and great bang for the buck...

+1 that. I swap back and forth between my XD40 subcompact and the XD45 Service.

Both are excellent firearms that have never ever given me a drop of trouble.

The fit and finish is what really pulled me to the xdm over the xd, as I was originally considering the Service. As far as I can tell, the exchangeable backstraps, the Match Grade Barrel, the higher mag cap, and the shortened trigger reset are the main features that are different on the XDm. I am greatly pleased. ;) I personally think that the XDm is worth the extra $200. the guys at the reloader's Bench has a full size for 519.00 in 40 that I thought about, but decided that I was too lazy to pull off all the grip tape that the previous owner had put on it. Great deal, though...

3.8 inch barrel as opposed to 4.5 inch on standard XDMs.

Both 3.8 and standard are in 9mm and .40.
