I can't seem to find many RIA Tacticals. I think that's the way I'm leaning. Gunbrokers has a couple, but not what I am looking for.

Bellshire Hardware on Dickerson in Nashville, search by seller on gunbroker, they're "bellshireguns" think their Tactical's run about $430 or so which is a steal...

Rock Island (Armscor) makes some solid entry level 1911's. They are made in the Philippines, but have good steel. I know several guys that have built them up. It can be a great base for a "as I get the money" project, or just a gun you can run hard/beat-up and not feel bad about. I really like the traditional, basic look of them. They are great buy for the money.

I believe you have the ambi safety. Any government size 1911 grip cut for an ambi safety should fit. Google 1911 grips. You'll find many choices with a wide price range. I, personally, stay away from smooth grips. Finger grooves add a nice feel.
