Anybody shoot older military rifles?

I just wondered if anybody shot their military rifles. I shoot my milsurps more than anything else these days. I can't remember the last time I shot a .22. I shoot my M1 Garand and Mosin Romanian M44 as much as I can. Does anybody else shoot their older rifles?

I shoot my .22 AR15 WAY more than my 5.56 and 6.8 AR's. I'd like to shoot the Mosin more but it's not as fun in an indoor range other than scaring the bejeebuz out of the Fudds while they are benchrest shooting thier $2000 match .22lr's.

Frequently my Garand and M1 Carbine, and on occasion my 1873 springfield and 1896 broomhandle mauser.

Sure do. And I especially favor my Brno Mauser (CZ) in 8mm.

She'll shoot quarter size groups, off the bench @ 100 meters, all day long.

Unbelievably accurate...for an ol' milsurp Mauser. FWIW

i got a ww2 mauser that i picked up in the 70's. then in 1982 i put a 308 barrel on it. great gun, real tack driver. used it for long range rifle matches in west texas back in the 80's.

Sold my mosin to help fund a garand purchase. My garand order is still processing down at CMP but will be picking up another Mosin in April and probably a mauser as well. I love Milsurps

I love firing off some old 7.62x54r with my 91/30. My Dad has a 91/30, M44, M38 and a Swiss K-31. Of the four the M38 and K-31 are my absolute favorites.

Sadly, my milsurps have been neglected these days. I need to go back out now that the weather is getting better. Here are mine: 1903 Springfield manufactured in 1921, re barreled in '42 M1 Garand - Spring of '42 manufacture date w/ lock bar sights. Probably saw Danish service at some point as it has a VAR barrel. Mosin Nagant M44 - picked it up for $50.00 way back when, dated 1944 Soviet Production.

I'm almost embarrased to admit that I have several milsurps that I've never even shot, and several more that haven't been fired in years. Need to break them all out one day and let the old girls sing again.

Last year, just for the heck of it, I started shooting all of my US service rifles in a local 200 yard match. I began with my Match AR and have been working my way back as per the date that the rifle was type classified for service.

So far these have been on the firing line.

I've not got a 1917 but I do have a 1944 Win. Garand. I love shooting it.

I've got a bubbaed 1903 Rem. that pretty accurate.

I like old rifles like I enjoy old cars. New stuff is fun too but I prefer the old stuff.

Probably 7 times out of 10, I shoot my Mosins. Sometimes my AR and the kids 22 but mostly the Mosins. A Garand is within reach, then maybe a K31 after that.

I have a sporterized Rock Island Arsenal 1903 that was passed down to me from my grandfather. I wish it still had the original stock, but it was modified before I got it . It's a really nice looking gun, though. It's a tack-driver, and I love shooting it. I deer hunt with it often - dropped an 8-point with it a couple years ago.
