Need Red Dot Sight for Steel Challenge

I have a Barska Red Dot now on my Ruger Mark II. It does well except in bright sunlight. The dot washes out in certain conditions. Any suggestions as to a better solution without breaking the bank? I am considering an Ultradot 25 but am open. I thought a tube type dot might not be as problematic as the holographic. I am new at this so I am very confused.
