Now why this drew such childish replies is beyond me. I think I will return to THR now.

I read and post on occassion at High Road. That holier than thou attitude gets to me sometimes. Life is too short to not have some fun.

I am not ready to try the open carry thing quite yet. I am not paranoid about printing but I try to not let it peak out too much from my jacket or shirt tail, One lady at a WalMart of all places definitely saw the thing one day as I reached to look at a DVD. She did not look weirded out or anything but was for sure looking at me.

LMAO!! Way off topic but I just flipped channels and MolonLabeTN's avatar was on the screen. No lie!! Dr. Strangelove is/was right at the point his avatar came from.

I read THR as well and, like you ,that whole "Holier than thou" attitude gets to me sometimes. The mods there are completely spastic on what is and isn't allowed. And if they deem your topic "Not Worthy" they will tell you to post it on the "other" web site. (aps.com?), which is BS and a pain in the butt.

Oh goody, yet another chance at a flame-war! :D

I do open carry when I think it is appropriate. I just don't think it is a good idea for most general carry.

Only a fool would open carry! ;)

ok, I will bite :-\, when is it "appropriate"? you are not saying you are a fool are you?:D

I will play the devils advocate...but, before I do..I do NOT, repeat do NOT open carry....

but I heard it serves as a crime deterrant, and you can ease the public by getting a badge that looks like a cop badge but says you have a permit ;):stir:

I did a reply to this before, but must have forgotten to hit "submit". Oh well.

I think OC is appropriate in outdoor settings, like hunting or hiking. It provides rapid response to attacks by trailside ax murderers, cougars, bears and Woodsie Owl (who I would love to dispatch to Critter Hell). It's also OK when you are in an urban setting but look like you should be packing that way. In my case, it's normally in a military T-shirt and H&K LE division cap or official letter cap (like FBI, or in my case NSC). I've had people thank me for helping secure the country. Nice feeling....

I personally understand and respect those of you who actually think you are a deterrent to crime by open carrying or are somehow helping the cause, but I'm afraid I have my wife's view on this that you just look like cowboys. The term that comes to mind is "goofy". The problem is that while I see OC as goofy, much of the public sees you as nutso-dangerous. In the long term, I think you will hurt our cause.

Enough said.
