AR pistol grip

my next build on an AR is going to be a pistol, i'm pretty excited about it. my question is...am i able to put a forearm pistol grip on it? can a pistol have a forearm grip or can only a rifle have one?

No. A forward vertical grip on a pistol makes it an NFA firearm.

I've been wondering if the new Magpul AFG would be considered legal though, since it's not 'vertical'?

Interesting question...

But registering an SBR would allow you to put on a VFG, and even a stock.

I've been wondering the same thing. But...if you aren't using it as a rifle, and are holding it like a pistol, I don't think the AFG would make much difference. When I hold my air AR pistol with those angles, it doesn't feel natural.
