Increasing Small Arms Lethality

You are absolutely right, that is why I was asking.

I served in the Navy during Vietnam. I was not in combat. I served on an amphibious assault ship (300 Navy crew and 1000 Marines). I put the Marines on the beach and went back and ate breakfast and took a nap.

I have been in combat in this country though if that counts. I had a car to carry all my stuff in though. :D

So you've probably had more than your fair share of us arrogant, loud-mouthed, opinionated, self-absorbed Marines :D

There is a difference between combat in a war zone and combat in this country. As a LEO or a civilian in a defensive shooting, there is a potential lawsuit in every round you fire and so there tends to be alot more fire discipline (I'm simply assuming that this is a fairly accurate picture, please correct me if I'm wrong).

In combat in Iraq or A-stan, there's not nearly the same amount of restraint. Like I said, most shooting was done merely in the direction of the bad guy.

Two different animals, I imagine it's tough to really compare the two. I don't know, I'm just rambling now.:surrender:

On landing operations I was a Mike Boat Engineer. I could drop you feet dry, for a nice stroll onto the beach…. Or I could drop you in 12 feet of water and you would wonder if you were going to live through the next few minutes. I got along just fine with the Marines. I respected them and they understood that they were a guest on my ship. :D

I would say that is accurate. I would also say that may be why I am more concerned about the caliber issue. In most Police shootings the perp is feet away and your goal is to make him unable or unwilling to fire his weapon at all. If he gets to fire his weapon chances are you are not going to have a good day.
