I think that my Kimber was slightly more accurate but its probably just me and not use to this handgun yet... sounds like an excuse for lots of range time to me!!! ;)

OMG, great choice John! I think you and I were on the same plane of consciousness or something...I bought one of that exact same pistol on Sunday March 14th! I was looking for a thread to post a pic of it that my wife took for me, so might as well post it here...people can see what the other side of the gun looks like LOL.

Got mine as an 'imperfect' because of the blotch on the slide but got it for a really great deal for that imperfection, otherwise brand new.

Hi John,

Yes, we took it to the range Tuesday night :D Shot 50 rounds of PNC (I think that's the mfr) FMJ through it, and it was my first time shooting a .45.

I had one fail to feed where the slide didn't quite go all the way back into battery, so I cleared the round and kept going. This was fairly early in the box and had no issues after that. I'm used to shooting my Glock 19 so the backwards push of the 1911 was interesting as opposed to the recoil of the 19. I felt the gun was very manageable, but I was having such fun with it that I was forgetting some technical things and I wasn't quite on target.

Once I 'went back to class' in my head and breathed better, I was getting much better groups.

My wife shot about twelve rounds and had the same problem with feeding that I did above twice, but again, these occurred early in the box on a new gun, and all shots beyond those early hangs were flawless. Never had a stove pipe.

Toward the end, I wanted my wife to try shooting it by flipping the safety first then firing a single round. I handed her the gun saftied with one round in it, she flipped the safety down and hit dead center bullseye at 15 feet. :) She's 'bit' now, LOL She wants her own 1911 in black.

Also, when we got to the range, I bought two 8-round Wilson Combat mags for it straight away and I used those two mags all evening. They seem so much nicer and 'positive' than the stock mags.

I really like the night sights on it as well, everything seemed lined up just great. I was only ever off because of me, not the gun.

I can't wait to run more through it! My wife and I are both believers and drinking the 1911 :koolaid: now! This gun is SO fun to shoot, and .45 is a great round. My wife could practically drive tacks with the thing right away, and I got much better with it once I calmed down, lol. :D

Once I get this gun to where I trust it 100% after 150 more rounds or so, plus run some self-defense ammo through it, it may take the Glock 19's spot by the bedside for the first line of defense (before I can get to my 870, lol). It's a little big to carry, but I may carry it some when I wear a coat or a vest, but it will be OWB. My EDC is my 642, pocket carry.

Have you had yours to the range yet, John?

The first 100 rounds I didnt have any problems, like you I had 1 FTF. I also have 2 Wilson Combat mags that I used. I had 1 mag that when it got to the last round in the mag, the last shell would just pop out of the mag and the slide would lock in place. It was kind of frustrating but knowing it was a mag problem and not a gun problem put me at ease. I havent used the ACT/Novak mags yet. I like them but I read on the 1911 forum that a few years back these mags were having problems cracking. Does anyone know if that is still a problem and do I need to be careful with these mags???

I plan on hopefully running another 100 rounds thru this weekend, if I can find some ammo.... So far I LOVE THIS GUN!!!!!!!! ;)

Thank you!
