A number of firearms-related training videos are very good. An equal number are terrible. Did you have something specific in mind ?

yes yes but WHY?!

I have McGill's shotgun video. Among other things, I can cite incorrect use of nomenclature, poor and unsafe gun handling, bad editing, a bad section of audio (that instead of refilming, they used subtitles like a foreign film) and production values that reminded me of late 80's porn.

The word "gauge" was misspelled on on-screen graphics throughout the video. While that may seem minor, when you're considering a SHOTGUN training video, the word "gauge" is pretty important !

Also, when McGill verbally refers to # 4 buckshot, the on-screen graphic reads "0000 buckshot"

I almost sent it back to get my money back, but I decided to keep it for its sheer "badness".

To be fair, this is the only McGill video I have seen, but assuming the others are similar, I've avoided ordering any more.

Yeah McGill's quality is a bit cheesy. I do have one of his on the Glock. It's a bit generic really on shooting and carry techniques. It does have a good section on a detailed strip of a Glock.

Anything with Clint Smith or Mas Ayoob is usually good.

A BIG +1 on the Magpul videos. They are absolutely fantastic. Chris and Travis are very professional guys that really know their stuff. They instruct in a very easy to understand manner and seem to really be passionate about their teaching. Magpul will continue to get my money as long as they keep it up.

Having said that, videos (and any other training aids for that matter) are not a substitute for real training with a professional instructor. If I were you, I would try to buy the training aids from the company/instructor that I would like to train with in the future so that when/if you do attend one of the classes, the concepts won't be completely new to you and you will already have practiced them (right?).
