Any of you guys travel out of state to get some? Two times a year I like to travel and hunt out of state. Deer and turkey. Any of you? Where you going?

I'm heading to SC for their opener. Then hauling butt back here to get in on the fun.

I will be Turkey hunting in SC. not sure of the county but it's about an hour south of Charlotte.Hunting in Big Island NC. just outside of Forest City.Waiting to hear back from a buddy in New Mexico,North East of Angle Fire. The birds miagrate in and out of the ranch each year and the snow is to deep for him to get up there to see what kind of numbers have made it back.

Texas hunting either Carrizo Springs or the King Ranch.

Rio Grands are the only turkey I have hunted so this year will be pretty special.I have called turkey in with in 2 yards in New Mexico while Elk hunting but never shot one.I had over 50 birds on me at one time the morning after Christmas in Big Island,NC. and had 7 jakes about 25 yards away at the plantation in SC.

Headin down to Suwannee Co, Florida for the opening its a good time but the out of state turkey tag is awfull.

Do you mean it's costly or paperwork is hard.

The states I'm hunting I get license over the phone and get a license # befor I hang up.You can also get them on the net and have a copy e-mailed.

SC. was the highest for me but,I got the full license to hunt, fish,Fed miagratory birds salt water etc. I think it was around 350.00

I hunted MO two years ago and the tag was $175. Now its $225 for just turkey. Two birds I think?

Your right on SC being high. Oh well, want to play, got to pay!

I may squeeze in an Alabama hunt this spring. My dad lives there and between his and the neighboring farm there are usually some turkey around.

I'm heading down to Florida in a few weeks to try and bag an Osceola Turkey. Practicing my calls like mad. Never tried hunting down there so we'll see how it goes. Might try to let the air out of a hog or two while I'm at it.

Well here's the deal, this is my first turkey season. :)

I have put off hunting turkeys forever. Never thought I had the patience for it. I have hunted about every other bird, pheasant, quail, dove, pigeon, chukkar, most species of grouse, etc. Last year a friend of mine in Kansas who I deer hunt with there every year said you have to come back for turkey. I said turkey, you want me to drive to Kansas to hunt for a turkey? He said yeah you'd have a lot of fun.

So then two other people asked me to go with them them this spring, one in TN one in MO. I said I was gaining an interest in it, but I'd see how my time looked.

So last fall I am big game hunting in some far off place with a friend of mine who has hunted everywhere in the world, for dang near everything you can think of and some you can't. He started talking about turkey hunting. He then proceeds to tell me of all of the hunting he does, he likes turkey hunting the best. I said, whoa, you're kidding me right? He said, nope I'm not kidding. So he said, yeah why don't we go to Mexico and turkey hunt in the spring. I said, when I go to Mexico it's for Desert Bighorn or maybe deer. I'm not going all the way down there for some turkey. He said suit yourself, how about Kentucky? So instead we are going to Kentucky. Though he is still going to Mehico as well. He once shot every North American major species of turkey... in one season. So it should be interesting. I figure at least he knows what he is doing, which I obviously don't.

Not that you cared to hear all of that, but that is how my turkey season has come to pass. So, I will hunt turkeys four times this season.
