What type of storage does everyone use for there ammo? I am currently using a wooden crate that locks but would like something more suited for this.

What do you use/suggest?

Thanks,

various military style ammo cans, some stacked some in a wood chest, some loose boxes on a shelf, and all of it in a closet that locks.

Surplus military ammo cans. Most have a good rubber seal. And they are not to expensive.

I use a Craftsman type, roll around tool box. About 3 ft tall. The drawers hold boxed ammo and the larger containers can go in the big bottom compartment. And it locks.

Got 4 gunsafes in the house. One is exclusively for ammo.

BTW, my grandmomma is dead as are most of my other "older" relatives.

Nice to be the only one left, don't take any stuff from any of the living ones.

I have ammo cans myself. I'm just looking for ideas of a better setup than what I currently have.

As far as the Grandmother thing, maybe MemphisMason can explain it. He knows about it. Maybe it is time I changed my signature.

Thanks,

"My Grandmother is 113 and from Hartsville, TN. How old is your's?"

Yep you asked and received an answer. What's the problem?

Verne,

I also use ammo cans, unless the ammo is one of my various shooting bags/cases then it goes into one of those plastic boxes in said case..

Shotgun stays in their boxes as I don't reload them

Don't worry about your sig line,..Some will understand and some won't

My grandmother is ageless from Wareham Mass. and my father raised me, you might call me Lewis

I'd like to have a lockable room in my house with just huge piles of cartridges I could roll around in...

That would be freakin' awesome!

+1 there for sure! I almost imagine it would be like Uncle Scrooge from Duck Tales with his big roomful of gold coins and money that he swam around in. Come to think of it, a roomful of gold coins and money to swim around in wouldn't be half bad either!

@gregintenn

Very nice setup sir.

Thanks. It was actually an old, heavy plywood cabinet in our old office before we moved. It was going to be thrown away, so I took it home and bolted it to the floor so you couldn't turn it over on yourself, as it is very heavy. I've been told that a steel cabinet is not the best thing to store powder and ammo in in the event of a fire, as they turn into a giant grenede. The wood wouldn't build near the pressure before coming apart.

I came across a flame proof paint locker. Lots of shelves and lots of room.

Free is free! Works good for me.

Most of my ammo is in surplus sealed ammo cans inside my Liberty gun safe with a Goldenrod dehumidifier in the safe.
