Just got done cleaning my S&W 38 Detective Special. It's not high tech, but it is a sexy gun.

I thought the S&W was a Chief's Special and the Colt's were Detective Special's?

You are correct.

Where are the pictures Gallatin?

Your right. It is a Colt. It was a friend of mine mom's gun and was given to me after she died. Just tucked it away until recently and always assumed it was a S&W. Boy the writing is small.

You won't find it any cheaper and lucky you did. :D

Nice 'volver, GallatinTN. I have a 3rd issue like yours, but in nickel. Sweet little gun. I've thought about trading or selling it since I don't carry it often, but I just can't bring myself to part with it.

Dick Special. Nice revolver. Wish it were mine. Lucky you, and nice photo.:taser:

Doubt I could get too much for it. It has a couple of minor flaws in the finish and has a previous owner's (female) name engraved on it. Didn't bother me a bit since I've been known to give my favorite guns a girl's name (just for fun - I'm not that insane), but would likely hurt resale value.

Yeah. A little homedone engraving probable cuts the value in half.

A real shame to deface a fine Colt like that.

It's a pro engraving job. Looks good, but still, it's not my name.

I've had problems with Magtech FMJs in my J frame with some of them not firing. I don't know if the primers are too hard or what, but no other brand has given me trouble. Maybe the JHPs are better, but I'm not personally gonna trust them for carry.

Great revolvers! I have a Colt Agent which is the same thing but with an alloy frame. Shoots like a dream, but unfortunately looks like hell. Lost a lot of the blueing. But I love it. It's my keeper. :)
