There is one of those actually marketed for brass collection, but I'm pretty sure it's the exact same thing. The major issue I've seen with them is they don't work well on sand or gravel, and most areas I shoot are... sand or gravel.

One day I'm going to invent a brass magnet.

Haha. PM me when you do! I'll be your first customer.

It says it picks up stuff 3/8" diameter or larger. I guess 9mm brass would be right on the edge. Has anyone tried one? I'd like to know how they work in tall grass, but I don't want to spend $45.00 to find out.

I have one. Well worth the money I paid for it. It works with 9mm just fine.

What type of surface do you usually use it on? Sand, gravel, concrete? I usually shoot on either grass, or a field that's been mowed to 4-6" tall. I don't think it would work well in the field, but how does it do in grass a few inches tall?

Works on grass, sand, stones (you will pick up some stones too) and the floor of an indoor range.

I'm a CRO in USPSA shooting. I work a lot of major matches, which are lost brass matches. One match will pay for it.
