First holster

I'm looking for some advice on buying my first holster, glock 19. I'm 6ft 215lb. yes overweight. I want to carry in the 4 or 5 o clock position inside waist band, I think any way. I ride a motorcycle a lot so any body else who rides let me know how you carry.

There is so many choices I am getting confused, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you ride A bike alot, considder a sholder holster, im 6"2' and 175, kinda skinny, but it dissapears in a leather jacket...

I LOVE my two Serpa holsters. I too have a little extry around the waist, and carry at about 4 or 5 o'clock. Riding a bike, it would be VERY secure for this purpose. My fastest draw with a pact timer from BEEP to center mass hit at 7 yards was .66 of a second. They are very fast,and very secure holsters. My Glock21, and M9 both have one. Been looking for one for my SP101 3'....no luck. Try em.

As I was told when I started carrying, you will have a drawer full of various holsters for various purposes. Suggestions from fellow carriers are good, but do not get disappointed if a holster is not what you expected or not a comfortable as you would like. You will probably try at least two or three different ones before you figure out what is really for you. I am about 6' 2" 220 lbs with a little extra of that natural insulation. I carry a Ruger P345 in a Tagua IWB at 4 or 5 o'clock, and I often forget it is there. I do not ride donorcycles, but I am very active and have riden horses with this set-up with no problem.

+1. That's what I carry IWB. I had a MTAC, but didn't care for it. The DeSantis Intruder I posted a thread about here not long ago looks good also. And last, but not least, there's the Kholster IWB holster. If you can get past how fugly they are, the price is definately right on them. These are all kydex and leather hybrid holsters. I tried a Galco all leather IWB but didn't like it. Popular consesus says to go with a hybrid unless you got lots of money for a nice leather rig.

I have a couple of the Kholsters. They work just as well as the Crossbreeds in my opinion but they definitely are not as polished. I do like the fact that you can customize them to your liking and still not void the warranty.

I would love to try one of the high end leather rigs one day but when something works as well as the hybrids I have real trouble parting with that kind of money.

The TT Gunleather rigs are much more affordable and get great reviews. I might venture out this year and try one of theirs for my 1911 or my M&P9c.

Too many excess holes for me to think it could ever look good. I realize they are IWB holsters and not made to be seen, but I think they should at least be finished on one side and not look like Swiss cheese around the edge. It just looks cheap and unfinished IMO.

I'm also intrigued by the idea of trying a quality leather holster. We'll see.

I'm about your size, and I can carry a Glock 23 in an MTAC under a t-shirt without printing.

I occasionally ride dirt bikes as well as street bikes and can safley say that my G26 rides in it's MTAC perfectly at my 5-O'clock with no issues. No need to worry about anyone seeing it while riding unless you're on a crotch rocket bent down over the tank wearing nothing but a wife-beater on doing about 100mph....even then it'll only be for a second.

MTAC is pretty comfortable... but I'd recommend an OWB holster for better ease of movement, and I really liked the shoulder holster suggestion... I may even look into that.

Raven Concealment is another very viable option. I conceal a full size HK45 under a polo shirt with mine. I also like the idea that it is modular in that you can swap it from OWB to IWB by just switching out the attachment hardware. Whatever you do, make sure you do plenty of research so your holster drawer won't be so full. You should go to a gun shop and ask to try some different ones out or find a friend with a holster drawer and have at it. It's all about personal choice, but I would take a serious look at the new breed of kydex holsters.
