This has been around for quite a while now, but I love it. Added it to me speed dial I use it so much.

For another Google service that will blow your mind, look into Google Voice. They give you a phone number for free. You create an account, and enter all the phones you are ever at (home, work, cell, mom's house, etc.) then when the Google numer is dialed, all the phones ring at the same time. Whichever phone gets answered first is the one that the call gets routed to.

You can also use it to place long distance calls for free. Just call your Google number (a local call) from any of the phones on your list, then follow the menu for Google to place a LD call for you. You only get charged for the local call.

I really like google voice. It gives me much more control over incoming calls. I also like that it texts me the voice message.

I text 466453 (Google, it's in my phone book) a few times a day for phone numbers and addresses and stuff since I'm always on the go and it's quicker than my in-car GPS. Works like a charm and its FREE

I use Google Maps on my phone a lot. I can search for the name of the business, and it displays the location along with the phone #. I touch the number and the phone dials.

What format do you use when texting them? Just "McDonalds Main Street Memphis TN" or do you actually type out "I need the phone number for McDonalds on Main Street in Memphis, TN"?

You can also send a text similar to this: W 37830 and it will send you the weather report for the zipcode (37830).

Or send M 37830 to get a list of movie times

As for getting business info, texting Firehouse Subs Oak Ridge TN or Subway 37830 should work just fine.

Text the word Help and you'll get back lots of tips

Another fun fact, when using Goog411, as they are getting ready to place the call for you, say "SMS" and you'll also get a text with the business info.

The way I use it:

Business:

"McDonalds Memphis, TN"

or

"McDonalds Main Street Memphis, TN"

The first one will give you a bunch of results with address and phone and everything.

Movies:

"IronMan 2 Memphis, TN"

Will come back with what theater it's playing at and times.

Flights:

"Delta 1438"

Will come back with "On Time", etc, etc.

Weather, Scores, Everything you can think of... It even will translate Spanish to English and such. Pretty cool stuff, too. I use it about 4 times a day.

Phone companies don't charge for using the 5 digit numbers?

Kinda like using one of those "free" atms.

The atm may not charge a fee, but your bank sure will for the convenience of using another banks atm...

I'm not aware of my provider (T-Mobile) charging for texts to the 5 digit numbers. We'll see when the bill comes... :wall:
