My first deer ever last day of 2007-2008 season - 9pt. Taken with a .270 (Remington 7400) from about 75 yards.

My first archery deer - last day of 2008-09 archery season. 15yrd shot

My 2010 "hail mary" doe. I archery hunted all season and missed 4 deer including a very large 10pt buck. I opted to pull out the trusty .270 on the last weekend of the season just so I would not go empty handed. Sat down in a ground blind at 6:30 - at 6:40 this one was laying on the ground. Good thing too because it was 9 degrees that morning with a wind-chill of 1 so I didn't want to hang around long.

Good looking 9 point. Did you weigh him? I killed a decent 9 last Nov. with my Turk 8mm Mauser. Hes on my avatar.

I didn't weigh him, but I can tell you this - even after field dressing it took considerable effort for me and my step dad to get him loaded onto the trailer. Kind of got me spoiled since it was my first deer. It set the bar really high and everything after that has been somewhat of a let down.

A friend of mine took his wife hunting a few years ago and she killed her first buck a nice 10 point. He told her not to expect that everytime.
