Question about AR 15

I bought a used but never fired Olympic Arms AR 15 with a 16 inch barrel. I am not sure of the correct terminology but after removing the pin that allows the upper and lower to open but it is still attached at the forward part of the lower where the upper and lower swivels is the part about my question. That swivel point pin and bushings has a little play in it. Once the upper and lower are put back together and the back pin inserted I can still feel that forward swivel point having a very slight bit of play. Is this normal or can it be fixed?

It's normal for budget AR's to have a bit of play between the upper and lower receivers.

Nothing to worry about.

As long as it functions properly I would not worry. How many rounds have you put through it? Has it had any problems? You are not going to get tack driving accuracy out of it at 300 meters but where can you shoot that far around here regularly.

Again my advice is to put several hundred rounds through it without changing anything and not the performance. If it runs good then don't worry about it. If you still want to try to take the play out of it then possibly try:

Fulton Armory FAQ: Is the Accuwedge necessary to tighten AR-15 upper/lower receiver fit?

I don't need one in mine and couldn't install it if I wanted (too tight) but it might work for you.

Again just put some rounds downrange and make sure it works first.

hope this helps.

It's normal for most AR's to have a little play between the upper and lower.

A cheap quick fix is to install a accuwedge if it bothers you, cost about 5 bucks.

JDM beat me to it.

It's normal. I wouldn't bother with an accuwedge.
