Serious legal question...

Hello,

I have contacted FFL/Dealers in Tennessee and have received different answers, leaving me questionable as to whether or not they know the actual laws regarding my question. Now I will try here... I have a friend who is currently a resident of Ohio; I need to know if it is legal for me to transport a firearm into Kentucky (meet him there) and sell it to him (or perhaps call it a gift and donation). What are the legal issues concerning this? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

No that is NOT legal. You have to go thru FFL's on both ends to legally sell/transfer a gun across state lines.

sales between two residents. perfectly legal.

sales between residents of different stats, illeagal.

But you can meet at a gun shop and pay like $10 for a FFL to handle the transfer if it's a long gun. handguns I believe can't be bought anywhere but your home state.

Absolutely, positively what Volzfan said. You have to send it to an FFL in his home state that will then do the paperwork for him.

You can meet in KY to do the paperwork if it is a longgun. If it is a pistol it must be done in Ohio.

Bzzzt, nope.

FFL only necessary on the receiving/transfer end.
