Good evening all,

I just finished taking my HCP safety class over at Austin's. It was an all day event, lasting from 8am classroom start until almost 7:30pm finishing at the range. It was a fantastic class! Mike was knowledgeable and generally made the day go by fairly quickly with a good mix of real world stories and "facts" regarding handgun carry. I could have taken the class cheaper up here, but Mike's class was first-rate all the way.

I was somewhat worried about qualifying because of my limited experience shooting. By the time we got to the range I felt comfortable enough. Now I just have to make the trip down to the DMV and get the government side of the process started. :shrug:

I just thought I would share my experience in case anyone within driving distance of Oak Ridge is looking for a place to take the course. Mike's class is a combination of the TN required bits and the NRA Basic Pistol course. He did a great job of creating a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. We had a wide range of people in the class with various levels of shooting experience. Based on my observation, it looked like everyone had a good time and did well.

Never taken any of their classes, but they run a first rate shop there. Nice bunch of guys. I've bought a fair share of toys from them.

Has anyone ever failed the course??

Yes I've heard of people failing. Not generally for failing either test, but for failing to abide by range rules, etc.
