M&P 15-22 question

I am looking at getting one of these. I have a question that may be silly. I know the receiver is plastic, but can it be used as a regular lower? Can you swap the upper for a .556? What about the mag well? It all looks the same to me, but I am far from an expert. Any help would be appreciated.

No, the 15-22 is a dedicated .22 from what I understand.

To shoot .223 or 5.56, you'd have to buy an AR in that caliber, and a .22 conversion kit.

An AR upper won't fit on a 15-22 lower. The AR magazines don't fit either.

From what I read on it in a review, the dimensions of the lower are slightly different that a 5.56 so they can not be swapped. I only assume that is because of the polymer lower possibly not being strong enough, but I am not an engineer and didn't stay in a Holiday Inn express last night so.....:screwy:
