Another what if scenario

I was at my son's baseball practice today (freezing my tail off by. the way!) We were at a small private school field, so my gun was locked in the car. A large dog came running up out of the woods toward the field, turns out it was friendly, but that got me to thinking, what if it hadn't been friendly? I was only 50 ft from the truck, but you know the whole school thing. My first instinct would be to grab a baseball bat, but do you have the gun option? what's the right call if it had come after one of the kids?

You don't want to use the firearm. And by the way. If your parking your auto on school property no guns allowed unless your inside the car with the gun, and then you should be picking up a student. And you do have a permit also.

Patty said it.

Do what ever it takes to keep the kids safe. Baseball bats hurt like hell.

Grab the nearest liberal teacher and use her as a offering to the angry dog gods.

There are bills (HB1806/SB1622 HB2726/SB3756) moving through the TN congress dealing with ambiguity surrounding the "operated by" portion of the statute being cited.

Given the changes being made, I think it's safe to assume it was not being interpreted to cover leaving the gun secured in your car while you went about your business.

I think that by the time you covered the 50 feet to your truck and got back, some of the other parents would have grabbed some bats and taken care of the problem.

Then the local PD would have a flurry of calls from parents that were freaking out because you would pull a gun on a school baseball field.

But hey… I could be wrong. :shhh:
