Chrome(Really)Springfield Finish

Hey fellas,I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to refinish a Springfield 1911 alloy frame, well I did and failed miserably,Allumahyde would not stick to the frame without cracking,I ended up spending some quality time with stripper and a brush last night to get the darned stuff off(and I dont mean the other kind of stripper either).Sooo I ended up polishing the frame but I dont know if I like it.Anyone have any ideas of other types of coatings that may work, any one ever ran into this problem. Here is a few pics of my near chrome looking Springer.

Well, if it's any consolation, Krunchnik, I kinda like the polished look on your Springer!

If your bound to refinish it, I wonder how JB weld would work, filling in that there fibrazil roll mark?

Yeh,I was thinking of getting busier with the dremel and polishing the whole frame,I only did the area on the front hood and grip area,I sure cant believe how rough the machining is on the frame, its possible that someone else had a small hand in all the dings and dig marks. As for the Brazil mark, things could be worse I guess, could say Slobobia on it.:D

I say just 1500-2000 grit and elbow grease until it shines, then hit it with some Mother's or Brasso with a rag... It'll look a lot like chrome, but it may oxidize from handling here and there... If you don't mind giving it a once over with extra-fine steel wool every now and again, it'll look real good.

You could just refinish over that if you don't like it.
