New Custom Holster What Next?

Recommended Posts

Ok new custom leather pancake holster arrived. Is a little tight as I expected. So looking for best suggestions on how to break in holster so not quite as tight. I don't want gun falling out but at same time don't want to dislocate my shoulder trying to pull gun out.

You need to wrap the gun in a plastic bag, like a Kroger bag or saran wrap and shove it in the holster. Let it sit for a day. Then work it in and out a bit and it should be much better. Leave it in a couple of extra days if need be. If it is quite tight, double bag it. Take it slow, you can always loosen it up, but you can't tighten it up w/o possibly ruining the holster. Then you practice drawing the thing a few hundred times and you'll be good to go.

I also apply a silicon to the inside of mine that you can get from Brownell's and several other suppliers. It works very well.

Never use anything like Neatsfoot oil which softens leather.
