I have an opportunity to trade my 92FS for 1000 rds remington 223 + 1000 rds wolf polymer 223 + 10 30 rd ar mags. Would you do it? I think the value of ammo and mags at present day prices should exceed the value of the Beretta. The beretta is in very good condition, some wear, it was purchased new in 1990, made in Italy.

Yes, I have 2 AR15's and a fair amount of ammo and mags already

My Beretta 92SB goes back to the mid 80s and I still carry it for some uses.

I wouldn't think of trading it for anything. If I could keep only one pistol, it would be my old Beretta.

I have a Beretta 92FS that I purchased 4 years ago and I wouldn't trade it for the world. The rest of the handguns in my collection could easily become fodder for a trade but not the old reliable Beretta. Keep it. Buy the ammo and mags with cash.

Wolf Performance Ammo on Cheaper than dirt 1000 rounds $250.

AR 15 - 30 rd MAGS on Atlantic Firearms - $250

So yes, the "value" of the ammo and mags is about the same as the value of a 1990 Italian made Beretta, but you won't find another one for a long time.

well said -

I sold a compact a few years back for family needs and have regretted since – you can always get ammo and a new family (just kidding about the family)

For years I have been trying to buy that gun back - I think I am wearing him down but he says it’s his best shooter and so….

To paraphrase Marswolf “never leave a buddy or great gun behind” NEVER

Actually, I have a new XD9 (replaces the 92FS) and another 92FS that is new (wifes).

I've had two 92FS.. After the first one I missed it for a couple years, bought another one, and shot it a little bit. Good guns for sure, but eh.. I don't miss either of them anymore.

I'd get the ammo. 1000 rounds of Wolf = $250 anymore, 1000 rds of Remington = $3-400 most places. Definitely worth more than the gun which won't bring more than about $350 used. And if you really have to have a 92FS, you can always buy another one for $350 later.

If someone wants to give you ammo and mags worth 2x what the gun is worth...unless it has some sentimental value, then do it. Financially it makes good sense.

To me it's a hardware vs supplies issue. Keep the hardware buy more supplies.

If you want to dump the 92 that bad, I'll take it and give it a good home with my 1990 Italian 92FS and my 92G Elite comp gun.

It doesn't have sentimental value. I've had it a long time, but its just a tool. I do like the XD9 better (grip angle + width) and the 92FS just sits in the gun cabinet. I

Is there some reason to keep the older one over the new one.

new, made in US, police model (comes with 3 mags) is only difference I see, other than box

old made in Italy, has some wear in bluing along the edges, but very nice overall, has several thousand rds thru it

I still can't fathom why anybody would pay $250 for 1,000 rds of Wolf when you can buy GOOD ammo, Federal Powershock 50gr HP with reusable brass casings for just $35 more per K at Wal-Mart. Not all Wal-Marts stock it, but they can get it. It comes in 200 round packs for $57 each. ($57x5= $285.00, 200x5= 1,000 rounds)

When you find a Wal Mart that sells it locally, please post a thread because I'd like to buy some. I've never seen it at Wal Mart.

+1, is this why there's no .223 at the Wally world in Smryna? Could you stop hording it all.. geez.. Actually I can't stand buying ammo at that stores stupid kids behind the counter want to give me crap over it..

bro, if the 92 is Italian made, don't do it, GI issue one, trade it.

The Wal-mart in Murfreesboro on Old Fort (96) has it.

Ask your sporting goods manager to order it for you. Tell him/her that you know they can get it, and you'll buy the first two boxes they order!

Nope, I didn't buy it all out of the Smyrna location. Their sporting goods mgr there ordered way too much 12g ammo (hence the hundreds of boxes above the bb/airguns and the two endcaps full of the stuff!) and isn't going to buy anything else until some of that moves. I told her if she'd put that crap on sale it'd move! She's kinda' stupid.

One of those kids behind the counter is a friend of mine (Travis) yea.... he's not too bright. BUT, he was bright enough to tell me when 44 Mag went on sale for $5 a box!! I poop you not! $5 a BOX!!!!!

He hid the last six boxes for me until I could get there! He may not be the sharpest loaf in the chandelier, but he's a good friend and loyal!
