Just seen a preview on HBO called Pacific. WWII action has any one else seen it or know anything about it? I hope it is like the "Band of Brothers" series.

Tom Hanks has something to do with it. I've seen the preview also but my family decides not to support HBO so I'll wait till DVD or another network to air it.

I understand that this is essentially the same team that did Band of Brothers. Same concept, just the Pacific theater.

I just read an article about it. Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg teamed up again to make it. It said they have been working on it for 6 years. If it is anything like Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers it's going to be great. I can't wait.

I got HBO back in 01 (I think) and the only reason I did was to be able to see Band of Brothers. I kept it but probably don't watch it enough to pay for it but now at least I'll get some use out of it. ;)

I have been looking forward to this series for some time now. The Pacific Theater is so glossed over compared to the European Theater IMHO. And HBO's miniseries' are top notch.

Well I'm ready. Have seen teasers for over a year and it's about time.

Just out of curiosity, what issues do you have with HBO?

I watched all the trailers and the "making of" video. Looks like it will be every bit as good as BoB and SPR.

Google "John Basilone" and learn a little about one of the main characters in the series.

This has me itching to shoot the Garand and M1 Carbine. Or to put my foot up some Jap's ass.

This is mainly the "Band of Brothers" team, but they're working from very different source material. The "making of..." I saw the other day hints that they'll be following three different soldiers before, during, and after the war, all of whom kept journals and wrote books. Expect more human interest, backstory, and much more focus on the main characters than "Band of Brothers", since nobody in the 506 PIR kept a memoir with tons of detail.

I can't tell from the stuff I've seen whether or not the three main characters are together, or whether there will be three separate stories in the series told concurrently.

Did you read the thread?

It's not a story about soldiers, it's about Marines. :) And yes there is a difference.

So that thread would be comparible to three wolves then.

Does anyone know if Comcast will add this series to On Demand? I of course will not be home and my tivo is not set to record from the cable box.
