Winner did BuyItNow.

Yep. Whoever got it didn't do TOO bad for a factory new 1894C. Marlin wants $168 (MSRP, anyway) for them, and the folks on Gunbroker want a bunch most of the time.

I'm going over the Marlin Owners forum, and just going through the archives shows there used to be 1894s out there for $375-$400 in good condition on BuyItNow.

Here is the amazing thing.....look at the ballistics of a good, hot .357 handload though a carbine length barrel.

Until it runs out of steam due to sectional density...it hits as hard as a .30-30 up to 100-120 yards.

This gun is WAY underrated also a a self defense gun - can put out a lot of heat fast.

I have the cowboy model.

So far it has shot any .38 round I wanted to run through it.

It cried for a friend, so I got a Blackhawk to go with it.

A good combo, and fun to shoot.

So, what's everyone's opinion on the 1894C in .357MAG? I'm turning 18 next Saturday, the 6th, and am greatly considering one.

I like em. They have great handling qualities, no recoil, and are deadly accurate. You cant get that everywhere. We have it's big brother in a 44 mag (Browning 92). They are truly a great thing!!

Hope this helps,

Kind regards

Leroy

... Plus it doesn't have the crossbolt safety.

Yeah, many lever gun "purists" hate the safety, though I don't really get that.

I mean, you don't have to use it, current models still have the half-cock position and all.

I will say the safety is sort of a comfort on a lever gun to me if you need to unload the tube by racking them all out, as of course the hammer is fully cocking each rack.
