You were well within your right to draw your weapon and smart to do so. You were presented with a 3000 pound threat with no warning on your property with the fast moving potential of life endangerment. No one would have questioned the LEO if he had done the same whether on duty or not on his own property given the same situation.

years before I met those to... I worked with them when I worked at Millersville P.D.

RC always needed backup when coming into our city.

Ah. I was just wondering if you were somebody I've met face-to-face, in a "previous life". :D

I do wonder if Heckart ever lost that habit of swatting people who "frogged" on him up side the head with his 1911... :D:up:

or pointing his shotgun right at your face at 4ft and asking.... "Hey can you see... is this thing loaded"..

Uh... that's a habit I never encountered out of the guy I know.

If I had've, I'm sure one of us would'a taken an ass-whuppin'. :dirty:

Trying to visualize them, can I assume they had their "pants on the ground"?

After reading this lengthy thread, I think you reacted, as well as, anyone could have reacted.

As requested, Here is a detailed picture of what they looked like. Be weary if you see THESE guys in THIS truck.

Can't blame you for drawing. You were in a serious situation. Death can come at light speed. You didn't know what was going down. And you were under attack. Better safe than sorry. I think you did the right thing.

Out of instinct I would have drawn. Being caught off guard by a vehicle heading at me or my spouse at a high rate of speed, in my own yard to add, I probably would have done the same thing. It's an impossible scenario to justify or not as at the time you did not know the intentions of the driver and did what came as instinct. If he would have intentionally drove at you or your wife and you would have shot him you would have been justified, if he was drunk and had no intent to injure or harm you would not have been, it would have been a requirement for you to know his intentions which you did not so therein is the dilema.

FWIW, I would have pulled mine in the same situation. I've never pulled mine but once when I lived in Miami. Two young punks pulled up beside me, passenger side, on a divided 4 lane. Evidently I had cut them off or something, as they were both yelling curses and using sign language at me. I just reached down and picked up the S & W mod. 10 that was my truck gun and starting rubbing my right temple with the front sight. I never looked at them nor answered them in any way. They immediately hit the brakes and peeled of into a side street. End of incident.

That's considered to be brandishing and would land you in hot water in Tennessee. Really, really bad thing to do. Never produce your weapon until you are at the point of using it. Ever.
