Mailing Brass

I did a search but didn't find anything.

Are there any rules about mailing spent brass?

Can I just put it in a box and mail it like it was anything else or do I need to declare something to the USPS?

Or does it have to go FedEx / UPS?

Thanks.

I don't think there would be any restrictions. It's not ammo and it's not hazardous.

Sorry to hijack. Does anyone sell their brass to someone out of state?

There are no restrictions on selling unprimed brass that I'm aware of, regardless of their residence. Same with loaded ammunition.

flate rate usps for brass and lead is the only way to travel.

Lowbud sent me enough bullets through the USPS that my mail lady couldn't pick it up. I had to go to her car and get it....one low rate.

Yes. Sold 200000+ casings to people in various states. Always sent USPS flat rate.

Is "unprimed" brass the same as spent brass.

In other words, new brass would not have a primer in it at all.

Spent brass would have a "used" primer in it.

Would you have to remove all the primers before mailing or are spent primers ok?

Through other forums, I've sent brass to several other states with spent primers in them. No problem. Yes, The flat rate boxes from usps are the way to go.
