$50?

I'll offer $100 cash.

Of course, if it REALLY IS $50, either it's a starting bid in an attempt to draw bidders, it's hot, or there is something seriously wrong with it.

Naw, 50.00 just means it is the standard model.

From Modern Firearms - FN FAL rifle (great website):

FAL 50.00, or simply FAL, with fixed buttstock and standard barrel

FAL 50.63 or FAL "Para", with folding skeleton butt and short barrel

FAL 50.64 with folding skeleton butt of "Para" model and standard length barrel

FAL 50.41, also known as FAL Hbar or FALO - a heavy barreled model which was intended primary as a light support weapon.

I'm not an expert by any means. If you are a collector, a real Belgian FAL would be awesome. I frankly don't know if that is a good deal, but it seems to be in the right ballpark. The folks over at the FAL Files (http://www.falfiles.com/forums/index.php) might be able to help you on the value.

If you are getting it as a shooter, I would skip on that and buy one from DS Arms. They have their STG-58 (Austrian parts kit on a DSA receiver) for around $1200 (STG58 Austrian FAL-D S Arms). Also, they offer a version (SA-58) made completely by them in the U.S. for $1700 and up (SA58 Original Series-D S Arms).

Hope this helps.

I looked around seems like a good price. $3500 seems about the going asking price cheapest ad I found was $2750. I think its a fair price but I am by no means an expert.

By the way, you might want to make sure that it is exactly what you think it is, since value for collectors depends on minute details. They made a ton of different versions, and the differences are kinda confusing (to me at least). One site I saw says this:

The FAL receivers are all marked "F.A.L. cal. 7.62," while the LARs are stamped ".308 MATCH."

That's a fair price. If you look around and are patient, you can probably do better.

If you are planning to shoot it, I would suggest that you save a bunch of money and buy a SAR48 Heavy Barrel, or even an Israeli kit built on a quality receiver like DSA, Imbel, or Entreprise. That would be about half the cost or less.

For all things 'FAL-related' I would suggest FALFiles.com.

There's a sweet fal in our own classifieds. I've held it and believe me, it is a beauty. It also weighs about half a volkswagon. If I had the cash, it would be mine asap. :)

Simple, reliable design. Unimpressive accuracy. Hate the grip angle (easily changed). Thumb can't reach the safety (not easily changed).
