Kahr PM9 ammo

OK, what ammo are you using? Just got me one and know about 200-300 break in but what about for protection? Is there an ammo that has more FTF's than another?

Most anything should run, but of course you need to test it till you're comfy.

I use Golden Saber 124 gr. mainly 'cause I got decent deal on a bunch of it good while ago. It's not the top SD fav anymore, but plenty good enough, IMHO.

I carry Speer gold dot 124 gr +p in mine. I've never had a problem with any ammo I've run through mine. It feeds everything just fine. The PM-9 is a great carry piece. You're going to really get your money's worth out of it.

Break it in with FMJ first. As said here, you do need to test your JHP carry ammo. Yes, it's more $ but you don't want to find out the hard way that your gun doesn't like certain JHP. I'd run at least 2 boxes of what you've settled on. Should have no failures (in those 2 boxes) before you can trust it.

One trip back to Kahr for a workover I got through the break-in clean with no issues.

One tip, don't slingshot the first round, use the release when chambering.

I qualified these three PD rounds sufficiently that I trust them and can find one of the three without much difficulty.

I ran the 100rnd WWB, 147gr Rangers, 115 Speer GD's, 124gr Speerr GD's and like the 147gr better. It seems to push the slide verses snap it back, allowing me to control it better.

The one for the Kahr is just as good as the one for the XD. The gun will disappear on you, very comfy indeed.

I carry Extreme Shock Air Freedom rounds in my PM9. Look on their website, mighty powerful stuff. I've ripped some heavy duty wet phone books with this stuff. Not terribly useful against say a windshield, it is frangible, but carry Golden Sabre in the spare. Look it up...
