I have had pf9 & also a p40 in witch looks just like the p11, my wife had no problems with control, just trigger pull with pf9 but a trigger shoe will take care of that. You could check out 32 model.

Would you describe the recoil as stronger or lighter than a .38sp +p in a 642?
Lighter, even with 115gn.+Ps ( Corbon ) not a lot but lighter. Get the little pinky extension for the mags, makes it a whole lot easier to hold on to. Look, peoples biggest knock on the P11 is the long hard trigger pull, but that's your " safety ") if you put you a new snap cap in it and pull it off a couple of thousand times, it will smooth out, lighten up a little and your finger will get used to it. The P11 was designed to be the smallest 9mm on the market, and at the time it was. The safety is the long hard trigger pull. just like a snubnose revolver. They even made a 40 for a while !!! I shot one !! Talk about a " Pocket-Rocket ". I saw a 40 conversion kit for sale but, was too late,( yep, KT made them). For the going rate of 250 to 300 , you're not gett'n a S&W or a XD, or a Glock. I like the extra width and cap. of the P11. The PF9 is too narrow for me, it tries to twist in my hand. Oh, one other thing, the trigger will reset with out jack'n the slide, really nice if you get a hard primer. JMO !!!!

I'v had my p-11 about a year or so put over 1000+ rounds through it never had a misfire or jam. But you have to remember these are not range pistols but for me they have been very reliable and easy to conceal

I got a PF9 for Christmas last year and eventually sold it to my dad. The recoil was startling. It functioned perfectly and was fairly accurate, but it was just no fun to shoot. My daily carry piece is a Taurus PT145 and it is WAY more manageable to shoot. If I were looking for a compact 9mm I'd look at the PT111.

fiance said she had all she wanted of the pf9 after 4 shots, i think i called it a day around 70. you know you have had it out when you shoot it but it is a carry gun. simple as that. for the fiance i got the p32 hopefully soon ill be able to take it out to test.

I've had my PF-9 for around a year now and I still think it's the best CCW 9mm. It's what I used to qualify for my HCP. The pinky extension for the mags makes a HUGE difference in how much felt recoil gets transfered into the notch of my hand. It definitely took some getting used to the really long trigger pull. I can say that I've never had a jam or malfuction with it and probably have around 1000 rounds thru it, most of which were cheap reloads bought at the range.

One thing I forgot. I'm fairly certain the new one's come this way, but if you pick up an older PF-9 with the plastic mag release, upgrade it right away to the new style metal version. It's worth a few bucks (or get the seller to knock off $15!). The older plastic mag releases are garbage.

RANGE REPORT (P11)

ok I went to norris range and fired about 60-70 rounds thru it. everything everyone said was true, kinda snappy but nothing that I can't handle. the stiff trigger made it very difficult to even hit my target even from about 20 ft. I need a boresighter of some sort that will work with this small barrel/chamber so that I can seewhere/how to improve how I use the trigger while maintaining accuray.

any good site that say how to massage these little pistols up a little bit better by means of the functioning trigger etc.

BTW the pistol cycle perfect and never a problem. I just need to learn how to hit my target with this one.

RANGE REPORT (P11)

I fired one mag through the same gun out at norris today. Like mentioned, the trigger could use a little work but it's not bad. The recoil wasn't an issue at all. It's a little jumpy but still plenty controlable. I kept about half the rounds on a sheet of printer paper at 20 feet or so.

I've never handled a pf9 so I can't help much with a comparison.

I agree, I need to work on my technique. I put some tape on my bore sighter so that I can see what is happening when I cycle the trigger.

hopefully someone can give some expert advice here

1 get some snap-caps, make sure pistol is EMPTY. On a plain blank wall hold pistol all most touching wall. With a good grip, looking at the front sight, PRESS the trigger, do it slowly, when the trigger breaks, you can see how much the front sight moves. Keep doing it until you can break the trigger without the front sight moving. Remember what I told, you about a 100 or 200 dry fires a day. Do it. the trigger will smooth out, won't lighten up much. Lots of info on www.ktog.org about all KT's. Oh yeah, get that pinky extension for the mags, it will help your trigger control too. Don't do the trigger job with the paper clip, bad idea!!!!

I bought some snap caps from gander thurs, plan to buythose extensions soon, I put tape on my laser lyte bore sight to keep it from wobbleing since it is such a short barrel and isn't designed for it, I am doing better now. I forgot to mention I was very sleep deprived, but i much needed a day of shooting. both for some learning and to ease my mind a little. now I know where I need to improve at though.

lots of great input from everybody though.

oh and I forgot to mention there where right when they said I wouldn't be used to other triggers after that still pull. wowo they were right. I fired both a hk40 and short handle glock9. and they fired way before I expected them to after using firinghte keltec, I would like to reduce the pull a little but not to much that it makes it kinda unsafe

I sold my PF9 for a P-3AT, but I really liked it. I did the fluff & buff job suggested on the kel tec forum before I ever shot it. Never had a failure with about 200 rounds of cheap FMJ and about 20 +p JHP through it. It is snappy. My girlfriend, who thought it was "cute" didn't like to shoot it very much. It is accurate, but hard to shoot accurately. You have to really work that long trigger, though at SD distance that shouldn't be a problem.

I shot the p-11 my friend has one I liked it but the recoil is a bit much for my wife. she was there and also shot it. lets just say she shot once and put it down and she was done after that. But relaibility I shot ti about 50 times no jams easy to conceal. i carry the sigma 40ve

i always practice with printer paper and typically group in 4-6 in. then when it comes time to use it in a self defense situation hitting a threat that is 20 x 20 or 15 x 15 center mass is no issue.

if you are missing a piece of of notebook paper 1/2 the time, something is wrong. it is likely an issue of anticipation but you are doing something inconsistently IMO. Statistically speaking you want to first get to where you are accurate, as in you have a consistent nature to your shooting and you will hit the target in the same general area even if that area is low and to the left or whatever, then once you are consistent you can move your average location to the center and improve your precision.
